Windover Pond People

The Windover people lived in permanent or semi-permanent villages in the area around Titusville 7,000 years ago. They lived in a rich environment, about halfway between the freshwater St. Johns River and the brackish Indian River lagoon and Atlantic coast. The men probably did the hunting and fishing, using an atlatl (arrow or spear thrower) and spear, and brought home deer, raccoon, opossum, fish, and birds.
